Bio: Fishboy is a Denton, TX, indie rock band with an unhealthy love of power-pop and narrative songwriting. Imagine Danielson minus the crusades and of Montreal minus the perversion and disco . Fishboy was founded in 2001 by native Texan Eric Michener. Eric was given the name Fishboy after a dare on a middle school field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium in which he grabbed a fish out of the water and swallowed it. The group has released a handful of story-based albums, EPs, and 7" records that are often accompanied with comics which further expand the story beyond the lyrics. The first album that got the band noticed was Albatross: How We Failed to Save the Lone Star State with the Power of Rock N Roll, in which the band and the ghost of Buddy Holly go on a crime spree and tour performing all the songs Michener had written in his sleep since he was in the womb (fact: that would be 8,030 songs). Their follow-up record Classic Creeps took the story concept a bit further being a rock opera where all the characters have intertwining lives and their names all begin with the letter A.

In fall 2014 the band will unveil An Elephant: an album and wordless graphic novel about the ghost of Topsy, the elephant who was publicly electrocuted by Thomas Edison in 1903, and her attempts to avenge her death and pass into the afterlife. The results are as if Tarantino scrapped a remake of Dumbo after commissioning a full soundtrack and storyboards resulting in an unmade supernatural-historical-sci-fi-all-ages-revenge-thriller-rock-opera-comic-book.

An Elephant will be self-released as a traditional vinyl LP and as 5.5x5.5” 160 page read-along comic that will be specially formatted, animated, and posted online in the weeks leading up to its physical release. The album is currently available to stream and pre-order through the band's website and includes a direct PDF download of the entire book.
