We don’t mean that in a commercial sense—although stranger things have happened. We mean that this might be the most furious sound you’ll hear all year. Even when they whisper, Noon:30 sound hell-bent on vengeance, a kettle about to explode, a bomb about to go off.
They grew up in Detroit and now they live in D.C. Two friends, Aissa & Blue, Noon:30 are a band that transcends genre, a band who understands that the only way to truly fuck things up is to keep moving, to always stay one step ahead of people’s expectations. We could throw names at you—Bjork, Andy Stott, Nina Simone, The Knife, Nicki Minaj—but they all come up short. Noon:30 is art. Noon:30 is rage. Noon:30 is Noon:30.
It’s that feeling in your throat when you’re chasing someone you’re unable to catch, the desperation and the heat, when it feels like the whole world’s laughing at you. It’s enough to make you want to kill someone. But even as they rage, Noon:30 strives for transcendence.
From ambient to explosive, from sparseness to overload, from acapella to industrial, from frozen to ferocious. from a dream to a nightmare. Most of Finding Release isn’t safe for the radio. Fuck the radio. It’s a dangerous world out there. And if you can’t relate to any of this, then we envy you your comfort and your ignorance and your bliss.
